Should President Obama have the power to shut down domestic Internet traffic during a state of emergency?





Senators John Rockefeller (D-W. Va.) and Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) think so. On Wednesday they introduced a bill to establish the Office of the National Cybersecurity Advisor鈥攁n arm of the executive branch that would have vast power to monitor and control Internet traffic to protect against threats to critical cyber infrastructure. That broad power is rattling some civil libertarians.

Well if it was a National security threat I guess it would be Ok. I am not too fond of anyone having too much power but in the case of national emergency the President should get the benefit of the doubt.I even gave Bush the benefit!Should Obama Control the Internet?
Absolutely not! And I'm happy to see that there are many others ahead of me who feel the same way. The president doesn't have that right to restrict the people in this way. People need to take responsibility for themselves and their families and stop looking for Nanny government to run every aspect of their lives. We are supposed to be a free society for heaven's sake!
