These sorts of attacks are very popular in Korea, China, and other far-east nations. While the US has not yet been the victim of such an attack, it's probably only a matter of time. It appears this bill is designed to pre-empt such an attack by putting in security measures to stop it.
The US relies heavily on the internet for commerce and national security. Because it is such a vital part of our national infrastructure, then it only makes sense that the US government have some limited tools to protect the integrity of the very large part of the internet that lies within its boarders.
I'm pretty liberal (a ';libtard'; as the article's author might say). And the reason that I'm not ';up in arms'; is that not all us libtards are completely blind to the prospect of national security. I have no problem with FISA or even with some parts of the Patriot Act. What I do oppose is the abuse of such powers. This seems like a reasonable request for power by the executive branch of the government. I appreciate that it's being discussed and debated during a time of relative peace (not in the wake of a direct attack on our nation, as was the case with the Patriot Act). It's taking the proper steps through the legislative process and makes no attempt to hide what it is.
Maybe it's granting the President too much power. Maybe not. But it doesn't seem entirely unreasonable to me. In fact, I like the prospect of the President calling up a telco and saying, ';You need to shut down computer X's internet connection,'; then I do the current alternative: Nationalize the telecommunications industry and then order the computer's access terminated. That just seems like overkill, doesn't it?

What many of you don't know is that a child of the founder of that Foundation, Grand Daddy Rockefeller, became a Rothschild legacy through marriage. If they wanted to wiretap, they could apply for a warrant three days later than when they started, so the idea that they could just do it was unsettling, after all, three days is plenty of time for someone to fill out paperwork, why the need for abandoning any pretense at all, unless they didn't want any one to know who they were wiretapping, and that's not at all what we want or need.
What they did end up doing was not what they said they were going to do. The ability to listen in on citizens conversations is in direct contradiction to the Constitution, the (supposed) control of the internet in case of enemy attack isn't.
Please do not assume that because I am an Obama supporter, and a critic of the Patriot Act, that I think this bill is a good idea.

WINDOWS XP: How can someone access your shared folder via internet (sharing turned on)? Can we control it?
If you are behind a router (i.e. a Netgear or Linksys), then it is quite difficult to, unless you actually allow it, in which the best way to do so is via a VPN (google ';VPN'; for more information).
By default with XP, if someone does get access, there are no passwords, and all shared folders are accessible (but a log-in password is needed for Vista). You can make a password required if you have Windows XP Professional, but not Home Edition.

Just to bring everyone who doesn't know about this shortcut on board, CTRL+ENTER is a very useful shortcut. It puts 'http://www' before the text in the address bar and '.com' at the end. So if I want to visit 'http://www.microsoft.com' all I have to do is type ALT+D, microsoft, CTRL+ENTER.

Ok I think you are trying to remote into a computer that has a internet connection by using your network. This is possible with Microsoft remote desktop that can be found in the accessories menu in the start menu. an internet connection is not necessary to remote into another computer.
BTW I think it is more practice that if you have a network in place attach your internet connection to the network

Winsock works. As a matter of fact, I've had a high degree of success with it and VB6. As for third party - might be hard to get ahold of. Vb6 is OLD.
