Your computer is infected with spyware and your browser has been hijacked.

You need to install software like:

- Spybot Search and Destroy

- AdAware

- Hijaak This

After installation, restart the computer in safe mode and run these scanners one-at-a-time to clean up your PC.

Please note that spyware generally infect Internet Explorer. Mozilla Firefox is by and large immune from this problem.

I just installed Norton Internet Security 2007, & cannot find ';Parental Control';?

I have had Norton 2006 Version which had ';Parental Control'; in the status %26amp; setting area. Does anyone know if 2007 has it and if so how do I get get to it?I just installed Norton Internet Security 2007, %26amp; cannot find ';Parental Control';?
Yo Gary,

I do not have a clue here dude, because I have not had Norton on my system for ages---BUT--- you are Paying for this serivce !!!

Get in touch with Tech Support and have them do a walk through for you--- God knows they owe you the support since your paying them for the service in full and not for a partial program !!!I just installed Norton Internet Security 2007, %26amp; cannot find ';Parental Control';?
I have NIS 2007 but my ';Parental Control'; is educating the kids on what is acceptable. If they are old enough to look something up, they are old enough to be tought about the real world. If you treat things as taboo, they will be the only ones that don't know things and they will be easy targets for the bad guys.

Multiple windows pop up and not able to go on Internet or simple things like properties and control panel?

Sounds like you have spyware on your machine. Reboot into safe mode with networking (press f8 when your computer boots up).

no the net is not controlled by evil robots ,but there are some evil people that are on and using the net beware, and if you had mystery men and helicopter at you house i wonder what you have been up to ?
DUDE!

Did you just watch Conspiracy Theory or Matrix or something? :)

Yes, most of the Internet is controlled, monitored, and filtered at some level or another. Everyone who is anyone knows that we are all under some sort of watchful eye.

There are the 1% who really know how to get around all of the systems and blocks. Some do it for good and freedom, others are evil. The basic good versus evil philosophy.

I think, when all is said and done, the ';Internet'; will be an interesting Psychology and Sociology experiment gone bad.

Internet Explorer has blocked this site from using activex control?

When I tried to download Adobe flash playerInternet Explorer has blocked this site from using activex control?
Are you getting it from http://www.adobe.com ? If so, then just unblock it. IE is set to block all ActiveX controls. It's dangerous to leave it open to install any/all ActiveX controls. Just click the little yellow bar on top when it pops up to install the ActiveX control and install.Internet Explorer has blocked this site from using activex control?
Click the bar that gives the warning and and choose allow blocked content. Keep in mind these are for your own safety.
It's a safety feature of IE. Just click the little bar that gave you this message and download it manually.
    do this:

    open internet exxplorer,

in file menu, do tools %26gt; internet options

under the security tab, reduce the levels for all types of content zones.. and try again...

if it doesnt work, do the same on privacy tab
Let your firewall to except it, or better yet, right click that yellow bar near the address bar and say allow ActiveX control. If that doesn't show up, go into Internet tools through tools, Security and allow ActiveX.
Does it give you the option to run the Active X in the blocker bar ?

If it does, right click on the bar to allow the Active X applet to load and allow to install.

If it doesn't , Try trusing the site or adjusting your security controls to allow Active X to run.

I really really really dig this girl, %26amp; I'm going to meet her in a few days. We'll have the day together, %26amp; I'm worried that I'll be so nervous that I'll make a fool out of myself %26amp; won't get to enjoy the day because of my jitters. How can I calm down???Meeting someone from the internet for the first time - how can I control my jitters?
Take a Xanax with a couple of hurricanes and a coffee. You'll be smooth as a cactus. Seriously, you'll be solid.Meeting someone from the internet for the first time - how can I control my jitters?
you have to just relax. she probably feels the same way so you be in control of the day and make her feel comfortable so that you guys can have a good time. i know its hard meeting someone for the first time cause you get nerves trust me my b/f now of 2 years i met him off myspace and i was pretty nerves myself so trust me she will be too and so just take that as an advantage and just show her a good time. i hope everything goes well, good luck.
wow... dude... your actually meeting some one from on the enternet.. how enteresting?!?!? never thought people could go that far now day's... but it's cool... i'd do the same thing.... it depend's on if i trust the person... yeah i'll be meeting this really nice guy who's from india.. in a month.. because the place that i am going to india... is where he live's... like around there... :D... well hay good luck... and let me know how it goes........ have a great day............

    much love, ALOHA~*

    lanagani*
be sincere and pray :=) really.
Imagine having sex with her the moment you see her... works everytime.
    coffee lots of coffee
Take a pill to calm you down, which one I can't say, I'm sure there is one out there...
tell your self that you dont like her so you have nothing to worry about.

if you dont ';think'; you like her than you dont care if you make a fool of yourself.

    :)

she probably wants to meet a calm and confident guy so be just that, oh and yourself of course!
Try to get your mind off yourself and how you feel, and concentrate on things you two can talk about. ask questions about her interests, hobbies, what kind of movies she likes. find out what interests you have in common. Also, decide how much money you want to spend for the day. Are you going to take her out to eat? Girls love to eat out. Have you talked to her to see where she would like to go? If she doesn't care, make plans ahead of time. check to see what is going on around town. ? Remember, she is nervous, too!!! have a great time. Remember to give her your best smile and have a good sense of humor. ask her questions about herself. That will show her you are interested in her. Good luck. Let your personality shine and it will turn out great.
    dont wrry, just be u
You should relax and be yourself. I met my boyfriend by answering a question he posted on YA. He was apprehensive about meeting me also as well as he should have been. Meeting people on line can be scary so never throw caution to the wind if it seems forced listen to your instincts. Just so you can get an idea of a scary on line experience click on MAJJAS 360 page and read about his on line experience, otherwise have a great time.
when i go on first dates i think of them as just another person. If you still have the jitters you could talk to her just like you do over the internet. You should just be your self and if she doesn't like you for who you are then it is not ment to be. JUST BE YOUR SELF
You have placed too much importance on this meeting. The thing is you don't know this girl. She could be a total spaz in person. She might be a nice girl but not really what you are looking for. The chances of a great relationship coming from this meetings are slim. Walk into the day using reality as your guide instead of what you're hoping things are going to be like.

If you are nervous and jittery you'll make her that way.
You probably will be nervous, and possibly make a fool of yourself.. just let it go, everyone is nervous on a blind date.. he/she will understand
Your nervousness will be contagious. Too bad!

How do you expect someone else to like you if you don't like yourself. That IS why you are jittery. Cancel the date and start figuring out what needs to change for you to start enjoying your own self. Can you handle that? If so, you've got it made. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Knowing that she is, probably, just as nervous as you are might help.

Depending on how long you've chatted over the 'net, you might find that the two of you very quickly become comfortable with each other.
Make sure its an environment that your comfortable in....that might help a little. If you feel like things are getting out of hand b/c you're so nervous tell her that your so excited to finally be meeting that you cant control your nerves. Chances are she is nervous too! Good luck!
Tell her you are excited about the date, but you are a little nervous. Don't be all weird about it though and don't tell her right now. Tell her closer to the date. I bet she is too. She might make you feel better by expressing those same thoughts. It's understandable to feel that way. If she can't be understanding about that, then she isn't worth your time.
Take a chill pill dude, all you gotta do is be kind and courteous, bring her flowers and be a gentleman. Try to concentrate on pleasing her instead of thinking about your jitters. Goodluck, I think you'll be fine.
Just relax. Dont be nervous just remember how much you ';dig'; this girl and you should be feeling better. If you have a positive attitude going into a situation then you are most likely going to come out with a positive outcome. So dont stress about it. Be yourself and have fun.
Just let her do most of the talking and you'll be okay. I've done it before and that is really the only way to control your jitters-GOOD LUCK!!!

Hope you two hit it off!!! I have never met anyone from the net worth messing with but I have tried though.
Take deep breaths and dont drink coffee or any other caffine. If your anxiety is really bad go to the health store and buy some Melatonin.
Make your plans around something you enjoy doing. If she likes you as much as you like her, then everything else will fall into place. Ask questions about her and her family. Find out what else you two have in common. Go into the day thinking you will meet a new friend and leave it at that. If more progresses, great! If not, then it's not meant to be. Move onto to the next one.
Just relax, and be yourself dude... And don't set your expectations up so high that there is no way any human can live up to them.

You'll be fine. Now, go do something to get your mind involved, and off of meeting her.

How to block ';Click to run an ActiveX control on this webpage'; popup in Internet Explorer 7.0.6000?

Think that is allowing your browser to open/run/save all ActiveX in your computer (sometimes this might be dangerous though), go to the IE ';Settings'; under the ';Advanced'; tab and look for ';Security'; or ';ActiveX'; sub-options.

Steps are (if I'm not mistaken):

    1. Click [Tools] then select [Internet Options]/

    2. Click the [Advanced] tab.

    3. Under ';Security'; make sure that ';Allow Active content to run files on My Computer';.

    4. If you made changes click [Apply].

    5. Click the [Security] tab, and then click [Custom Level].

    6. Select one or more of the items in the following Active Content areas (choosing enable):

鈥?ActiveX Controls and Plug-ins (allows/prevent Internet Explorer to automatically use items that show active content)

鈥?Java (allows/prevents Internet Explorer from viewing Java programs automatically)

    7. Click [OK] twice.

  • Should the USA relinquish ';control'; of the Internet to the U.N.?

http://www.boston.com/business/technolog鈥?/a>Should the USA relinquish ';control'; of the Internet to the U.N.?
nopeShould the USA relinquish ';control'; of the Internet to the U.N.?
No. Did you see what happened in China when Yahoo turned over information on the dissidents to the Chinese Government?
If Al Gore invented it then we should run it.
    I don't think so. ^_^ Sorry.

The problem with that idea is, in today's United Nations, a lot of nations have a slight *excess* of influence to counter-balance the influence of the United States. Which in theory is all right, but....

Most of these nations that have that ';excess'; are either dictatorships, religious kingdoms (like Saudi Arabia), or one-party systems (Russia, China). Do we want to trust the internet to a bunch of people whose *first, last and only* impulse is to censor, restrict, say ';no'; and punish?

I mean, yes, the United States is a *mess* these days, no question about it. But at least *in principle* we support Freedom of Speech and Expression here. Odds are many, *many* of the more influential (and repressive) nations of the U.N. would not. Not even *in principle*.

So no thanks. -_- Aren't things *bad* enough as it is? You know, with the harshness of copyright laws (assume everyone's a thief, guilty until proven innocent), and the dying throes of internet neutrality (companies wanting *some* internet information to be favored over others on a paid-for basis)?

Just saying...let's not make a mediocre situation *genuinely bad* here, ok? ^_^
Personally, I was born in America, lived here all my life, and believe that the United Nations '; Ain't '; what it used to be !! The majority of the nations really don't like America, but are afraid to say so because of their debt to us or assistance that we are donating to them. The United Nations in this patriots opinion is a loser. God Bless America .......
The US controls the whole internet?
I read your articles and I still don't think the US, as in the government, ';controls'; the internet. But to give the any control of anything to the UN in its current configuration is a joke.
defiantly not. we are one of there worlds more power full country's. first off pulling out will show that we are not willing to tribute to problems and issues that need to be taken Care of. but also shows that we wish to be in control. we need organization and the u.s. needs to apart of solving our issues.
The UN should control as little as possible. They are crooks and thugs.
The US should relinquish NOTHING to the UN. In fact, we should pull out of that worthless, toothless and corrupt body.

Cofy Annan's kids need more ill gotten millions, so maybe we should stay?
The US does not control the Internet. It merely controls the US based internet sites for companies and individuals who live and reside in the United States. The US has no control over Chinese, Japanese, or EU sites at all. These countries have control over their own internet users and providers as well. And the amount of control differs greatly. The US has less strict controls and regulations over the internet than the Chinese government does. They actually monitor the sites that you go on, while the US does not. No one governemnt entity actually controls the whole Internet, just the sites that are based in that specific country.
    No. But out UN!
Heck no, they just want to control our access to free speech. Besides wasn't it one of our august citizens who invented the Intenet; the honorable Al Gore?
Not unless you want the internet to become a politically correct, leftist propaganda tool.
We should pull out of the UN since they do nothing but take money and push the liberal agenda.

    http://myamericantoday.blogspot.com/
did you run out of meds ?the un is not fit to run a garbage service!
    NO WAY NO HOW

The UN can't even run a good scam.

Remember Oil for Food. Billions of dollars that should have gone to food suppliers went to the friends and family of Kofi Anan and his cohorts.
Wow mention the UN and a certain and very paranoid section of US society absolutely freaks out at the notion of an organised body not directly under their agenda..... if the US has control, yes of course it should relinquish it - the rest of you don't be silly...
    The US controls the internet??
Some other international organization, perhaps. The UN? Never.
NO, No way, No way in Hell! The United Nations--world socialist--is a joke and we need not only to not relinquish control of anything to it; we need to be out of it and yesterday at that!
No. We invented it. We built it. We own it. It is ours to keep. The UN's theft of American assets must be stopped. What they steal from us, the UN will use against us. Most of the UN hates America because we are free, and they are trying to destroy the freedom of the American people.
    The UN should be abolished.
The U.N., like the ACLU... is obsolete.

It's an organization formed to do something... it did it... and now it's sitting around screwing up everything it touches.

    Absolutely NOT
You'll have to ask Al Gore. He invented it. But he IS a communist, and DOES love the U.N. Carter just called and said to go ahead and give it to them, like the Panama Canal (If it weren't so easy to get back from them shiftless beaners, i'd be pissed about that).
The Internet was founded by the U.S. Military and the U.S. should never relinquish ';control'; to the U.N. Each country has the ability to control the Internet within it's own borders and that's as far as it should go. Master Blaster!
Hell no. I've said it before, and I bet I end up saying it again: NO foreign power will control/change the constitution while I can still pull the trigger and sit in a tree. They want our guns, our freedom of speech, etc. NO alliance of 3rd world countries will dictate the manner in which I live my life while I draw breath.
Neither the USA nor any other nation ';controls'; the internet. No one does and no one should.

I can get in to the Control Panel and go to Internet Options, but forgot my password, for the ratings control!

I need to get into it, so I can change the content advisor ratings, to keep my kiddos safe from things...but I forgot my password and I can't do anyything with it! Help someone! I want my kids to be able to use the net safely, why won't it let me change the password or anything?I can get in to the Control Panel and go to Internet Options, but forgot my password, for the ratings control!
This utility, Content Advisor, is one of the most poorly developed parental control options out there. You'll see why here in a minute.

If you've forgotten your password for this utility, it's very simple to reset it. The following tasks I am about to educate you on are very risky as you will be modifying what is known as the system registry (it's a major fundamental operation to Windows itself). Understand that I can not be held responsible if this causes any damage, however take it from me I've done this a ton of times (I am an in-home technician) and I have yet to witness it make anything worse.

    1) Click on the START Button

    2) Click on RUN

    3) Type ';REGEDIT';

    4) Expand the following folders in order (To expand click the + sign to the left): HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE; SOFTWARE; Microsoft; Windows; CurrentVersion; Policies.

    5) Click on the folder ';Ratings'; to view it's content

    6) Click on ';Content Advisor';

    7) From within there you should see a key in the right hand side titled ';KEY'; simply right click on it, and click delete.

Restart your system, from here the content advisor will be disabled and reset. Simply re-establish your password and you're done.

Now if you want truely professional and quality parental control, I highly discourage against strictly software related parental control as any intelligent teen (and most teens these days are quick enough to fix this) can easly bypass parental control software.

I recommend a mix of hardware and software, the best retail available product I can think of is: D-Link Secure Spot

It's a hardware box that actually goes between your router and your modem for internet activity, from there you can actually establish a filter to allow it to block specific images, websites, and content. It'll filter out filthy words, filthy images, and so forth.

It's incredibly easy to manage and administrate on your behalf, and it's moderately affordable. I believe last one I sold was a 70 dollar product, though this was a little while ago.

The only downside to this is again, it's moderately easy to filter. The child only has to change the cables in the back to skip it, however most kids are not comfortable (just like most adults) with fiddling with wires that might ';blow up their computer'; (though it wont, but many think the threat is real when playing with wires).

This is the best course of action I can recommend for you to take when it comes to parental control, as well as how to reset the Content Advisor issue you're experienced. Hopefully this assisted you!!

Who has control over the internet?

who own the internet and started itWho has control over the internet?
Noone ever owned it that I'm aware of. There isn't really one person or group of people that created it. It's been developing for a few decades, and is not anything like what it originally began as. Currently the FCC makes and enforces rules for the internet. Soon, it will be your internet access provider i.e. Comcast, AT%26amp;T, etc. who will decide how the internet works, if you can access it, and what websites you will be able to see. You can thank Congress for that.Who has control over the internet?
No one really has control over the Internet, it is a collaboration of many computers from all over the world on a network. It was started for a part of the government a while ago, I think the Department of Defense, many places liked the idea and a part of the original Internet was at UCLA. Then it grew and now it is a huge worldwide item that nearly everyone, in the modern world, has.
    u. u can control what to c and what not to c
    none.
the government...they keep it in secrecy.

Why aren't more people aware , worried & concerned about government internet restriction ,censorship & control?

governments are taking us down the road of banning websites, closing websites down, censoring and restricting google search results, filtering what you watch or see, monitoring your internet activity, closing down freedom of speech, banning limewire , censoring youtube , deleting accounts , searching your own harddrive without any reason.

shutting down the web and reopening it with '' internet 2 '' the governments restricted version of the internet.

and making everywhere like communist china.

basically the british government is already censoring infowars .com and prisonplanet . com - alex jones's websites.

because people are waking up and seeing the truth about the government and corruption, and now they wanna block that and the right to freedom of expression and free speech.

but still, alot of people laugh at you and call you a nut when you tell them about all this , like your paranoid and delusionary.

so what will it take for people to awake ?

all of a sudden one morning waking up to not being able to view the web ?Why aren't more people aware , worried %26amp; concerned about government internet restriction ,censorship %26amp; control?
Ive said it on here before and i'll say it again. Jacqui Smith and her cronies are far right extremists. You cannot go around banning people or Web sites because you disagree with what they say. We are supposed to be a democracy in the UK. Why the Labour party are relying on this Nazi Ideology of simply removing anything that stands in their way is beyond me. It didn't work in the 40's it's certainly not working in China and it wont work here now. Have they learned nothing from history !!Why aren't more people aware , worried %26amp; concerned about government internet restriction ,censorship %26amp; control?
I don't know if I believe any of this or not but if they were to start watching what people are doing it might not be such a bad idea.

We have censorship on TV and radio and we all accept that and from what I understand about this idea is that terrorists, thieves and paedophiles would be the main target anyway.

I don't mind too much if it stops some perv from grooming our kids or some scum bag from emptying our bank accounts..

It is always a few that spoil things for us all
people are brainwashed into believing its for their own good. they say if it saves us from terroristss its ok. if it saves one child its ok, if ive got nothing to hide its ok. not true at all. it is not ok. their freedom is being eroded so slowly they dont notice.

as hitler said if you steal freedom slowly ,no one will notice until we have total control. its happening now.
I hate censorship. The BBFC are a pack of idiots. They watch the films we are not allowed see because we 'can't handle it' Yet they watch them every day. Every single day. I say lets kill them before they go crazy murdering and raping people while on crack cocaine since they are the ones that claim these films cause all of this.
I don't think its going to come to that...

The government say alot...but do little...so remember that.

People aren't worried because it hasn't happened yet or there are no OFFICIAL planning....

So why worry...if nothing has been in placed ?
If people didn't use it for illegal reasons, there would be no need and the government wouldn't be doing it. If it saves one child from further abuse or saves on terrorist attack, I am right behind the government restrictions.
Sorry for not posting this as a question, but can y/a bar an IP address - they allow questions from my work computer but not from home.

I must confess I have spent many an hour winding up the y/a community so maybe this is my penance
The fact that child porn is still freely available over the net makes me disbelieve this.

If they were monitoring websites then I would hope those sort would be the first to go.
We need some form of privacy. Yep they even want to start up ID cards in Manchester (UK) for a test run to see if it would work.
I'm not aware of any of this because I've been brainwashed.
    Lol, no.
1 .. I LOVE ALEX JONES hes dead on ! look at agent orange or chemtrails , hr47 thats our rights ! we americans where warned !!! many times !!! ppl need to wake up u CAN NOT CAN NOT TRUST THE GOVERNMNET ! id u look up orleans goverment tkes citizens weapons away ! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w6oa_VwiP鈥?/a> this is the meaning on fisa '' secret meeting '' bush tapping our phones ,, jfk warned us .my dad members this speech alittle while later he was killed ..NOT BY oswald or gov.did it . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fhqZXj6d6鈥?/a> more proof http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLiF4Jwvb鈥?/a> .... READ UR HISTORY PPL !
what will it take for people to use the internet for its purpose instead of scams, viruses, child pornography, posting nude pictures, learning how to make bombs and so on? i fully support the government watching what we do on the internet. if people weren't so evil and crazy they wouldn't have to so i wouldn't blame it on the government. i don't participate in those sorts of things so i couldn't care less if they watch me. and people say oh its my freedom of speech and blah blah blah, well news flash people just because you can say whatever you want doesn't mean you should. get over it.
Don't you understand, it鈥檚 for our own good?

It's not us they want to stop viewing certain stuff, it's the terrorists. They need the power to be able to restrict what can and cannot be seen for national security reasons. These terrorists are very savvy now and really well funded, they use computers to communicate you know!

In that the measures needed to restrict their communications might affect some innocent people鈥檚 ability to view innocent material which might, by sheer coincidence prove ';embarrassing'; to the government, well that's the price we have to pay for the freedoms we enjoy!

Don't you see, the government are only trying to protect us from ourselves?

What if we were to read something about our government on a website that made us really angry?

Why that might inspire us to organize, it might radicalize some folks, they might protest, be civilly disobedient and that could turn violent.

Well there you have it violence = lawlessness = terrorism!

The government don鈥檛 want to go getting the public all upset, so some things its better that you don't see!

Now as for snooping on our emails, texts and phone calls, nobody鈥檚 interested if you鈥檙e having an extramarital affair and have been, billing and cooing with your lover on a spare cell phone, why would the government bother if they read all about your love life in your emails or texts?

If you've nothing to hide - you've nothing to fear!

No the government need to be able to know everything you are doing and saying for national security reasons.

What about Damian Green the opposition Member of Parliament?

Mr Green was arrested under new ant-terrorism powers, held for nine hours and had his two homes and offices searched by police investigating alleged leaks from the Home Office, which showed that the government was privately admitting its immigration policy was failing whilst publicly heralding it as a triumph.

Had the secret services had the power then that they want now, to eavesdrop on all of our private communications all of this nonsense would have been unnecessary, they would have known that he had no case to answer, and that his passing along certain information to the press was simply him doing his job!

You see it would be good for us!

The whole Second World War could have been avoided had Adolph Hitler had access to today鈥檚 wonderful new technology.

He could have created a super database at the University of Munich's theology department Listing every Jews name and address for mailshots. (To increase interfaith understanding and defuse the tensions before things got out of hand)

He could have made another for homosexuals to ensure there was social inclusion and quell any feelings of persecution they may have had.

Honestly I shall never understand you people and your conspiracy theories, why on earth would you even consider that a government (That we elected by the way) would have anything other than our best interests at heart?

Your paranoia will be the death of you!
Well they can do what they like ,if the want to shut up my political views, tough they do not control my mind there were avenues before the web, freedom of speech:? that has been legislated against well tough again they do not control my mind.

I would love them to come a calling, trouble is I do not break the law ,if my views are not of theirs well tough I do think the majority of people agree with most of my views on many things not all but most.

I fear no-one and do not think I ever will especially this bunch of crooks in Westmonster.

  • How do you enable active x controls to run on internet explorer?

    Be very careful!

An active-X control is an executable just like any other program that you can download. And just like any other downloaded program, active-X can be used for malicious purposes as well as useful ones.

Many website's active-X will deliever to your computer%26gt;%26gt; spyware and adware, often by misleading the visitor into downloading an active-X control that the website claims is necessary for the site to ';work';.

Only let active-X be downloaded from reputable websites that you trust 110% and never allow any active-X control to be downloaded that is not ';Signed';. Always err on the side of caution when downloading or allowing the use of active-X controls. And always try to use the website first without the active-X. Many times it will ';play'; just fine!

And never lower your Internet Explorer security settings in the Internet Zone below the default settings to allow an active-X control or download. That is ';Medium'; for IE-6 and ';Medium-High for IE-7. Doing so is a huge security risk. Almost all reputable websites will work fine with the default settings. How do you enable active x controls to run on internet explorer?
In IE at the top click ';Tools'; then ';Internet Options'; then select the ';Security'; Tab.

Then click the Custom Level button under ';Security Level for this zone'; then scroll down to ';Active x Cotrols and plug ins'; enable what you need to enable.

Careful Active x controls can be dangerous so maybe atleast turn on ';Automatic prompting for activex controls'; to be a little safer

Would it be okay for the all powerful B.H. Obama to seize control of the internet?

http://news.cnet.com/8301-13578_3-103200鈥?/a>Would it be okay for the all powerful B.H. Obama to seize control of the internet?
No Penny that control freak need not be in control of free speech, its not okayWould it be okay for the all powerful B.H. Obama to seize control of the internet?
There's really no need for him too. His sheep are brainwashed to believe everything he, his teleprompter, Keith Olberman, Bill Maher, and the dailykos.com/the huffingtonpost.com tells them to believe. The sheep are already bashing any dissenting opinion and furthering the spread of Comrade O's misinformation. If Comrade Obama were to take over the internet too, that would just be one more thing for him to have to manage. But then again...he is the almighty messiah...maybe he should take over the internet. However if he were truly the almighty that libtards like to think (I use this term very loosely) he is, there would be no need to take over the internet.
Yes it would be okay, in the same way it was okay for Bush to seize control of all airline traffic immediately after 9/11. If there's a national emergency, such as virus attack that's destroying the internet or a vital need to free up bandwidth for military reasons, then it would make sense that the government could do that. Or are you one of those liberals who doesn't trust the military?
That, in fact, is on his agenda. He is anti free speech and will silence the people by any means possible.

People, please wake up. This administration is the most secretive %26amp; oppressive in the U.S. history. You might want to hold on to all his broken promises and remain loyal to him but this government take over is not limited to Republicans, Democrats or Independents. It will negatively affect all of our lives.

There is no transparency. Respect for anyone who opposes him are down right called names, insulted and every means is being put in place for total and complete government control.

People will no longer come from other countries for sanctuary because the U.S. will become just like the tyrannies they have escaped from.

Open your eyes and heart, Obama, his czars %26amp; the likes of Pelosi, Reid, Boxer, Rangle, Dodd, etc. are not for the people. Their goal is to take control of all our lives and freedom.
It is but one small step for the mighty Obama to do, he wants to be dictator of the world and the world seems to be on the same game plan and besides if you already have the liberal media in your pocket why not take over the only other serious threat to your views.
He's been planning this for months, WND are the only people that picked up on it.

Absolutely not under any circumstances ever no matter what. The internet is absolutely pure freedom and the government just wants to regulate it and tax it like everything else because they want to turn us into tax-paying zombie drones that worship them and do whatever they say.
This administration will not stop until they have seized control of every aspect of our lives. Who are they modeling their plans after, NKorea???

This has nothing to do with a cyber attack. So the answer is no!!
Since he really wants power and to control something, I say that we compromise and let him have control over all South Side Chicago libraries. He can do whatever he wants with those!
That's what A-Jad did and China of the two well known cases of internet control but hey libs see nothing wrong with it

btw if a Republican gets the presidency again watch their tune change lol
Hell no.....it's just another part of his takeover of everything.
if you read the article it would be a cyber emergency only not for his own personal needs or gain maybe you should read before posting?
No, but this would be one way for him to get a clear idea of exactly how most Americans feel about him. Not very good!
Not to worry because it is not happening.
maybe he can hire some surplus censors from China.
Sure it would slow the spread of misinformation.
In the event of a cyber attack against the United States, yes it would be.
It would not be OK, and he is too busy to fool around with your conservative dreams.

My 14 yr old daughter is out of control on the internet. how can i delete all four of her id's and contacts?

i dont wish to put a parental control on, i want to entirely remove her accounts and everything in them, especially the people she is talking with!My 14 yr old daughter is out of control on the internet. how can i delete all four of her id's and contacts?
She's a minor and your responsibility. As such, you are able and justified to delete anything that may be perceived as harmful to your child.

I made my daughter write down all of her IDs and passwords and shut down everything. We have even installed a keystroke tracker just in case she gets back on the computer. We've tried talking to her to see why she's doing the things she does and she just tells us that she doesn't know. Fine. Now she's pretty much on complete lock down.

Some kids just have a real problem adjusting to puberty.

Good luck!My 14 yr old daughter is out of control on the internet. how can i delete all four of her id's and contacts?
the best thing you could do really is to password protect the internet so that she could only access the internet only when you allow her to at limited times.

Like mentioned by the post before, there is nothing you can do to control this situation without some form of parental control on. It will be easy for her to create a new account and add the same contacts back again.

Just search for ';password protect internet'; and you might find something useful.

    good luck
Deleting accounts won't stop her you need to talk to her about internet safety .There are software programs that can be purchased to help some are very good not all however .It is also recommended that her computer not be in her bedroom but in a place where you can occassionally watch what she is doing.
I'm 13 %26amp; my dad control me when I access the internet. I mean he would hack my laptop %26amp; watch me what I'm doing!! (I hate that!!) Even if he is at his office, he still hack me when he got the time!! It happens RARELY. You can do that but the best thing is you put Dans Guardian on her laptop/computer (It's an award winning filter)!! My dad did that too!! You can filter %26amp; unfilter websites. You can do anything with it! It's like you control the internet!! My dad said when I want him to unfilter websites, I have to list the websites on a piece of paper %26amp; he would check the website before he unfilter it! We (my siblings) always open our myspaces webpage but when our exam is around the corner, my dad will filter the website %26amp; we can't access Myspace anymore. So, we have to study. When the exam ends, my dad will unfilter it back!!

Take my advise, PLEASE don't delete her account!! She will be mad %26amp; hate you!! I know cuz I'm a 13 year old girl who has a dad who wanted to do that but I begged him!

For more infomation about the Dans Guardian thingee, http://www.dansguardian.org

    GOOD LUCK!!
You want to be her authority figure, then be a parent and block the sites from her! That is what they are there for. It is illegal for you to go snooping with other peoples internet accounts without their consent. Block it and lay down the law about the internet usage. If she doesn't like it, TOUGH.
You can't really unless you know her passwords. Under the Privacy of Information acts, it's illegal for you to do that. Anyways, she will just re-create new accounts if you delete them. Instead of trying to delete her accounts, try actually talking to her. Direct influence is the best coercion.
Unplug her internet access and sit and spend time with her while she is on the internet for other reasons
obviously you need her password..which you are unable to get unless she tells you.

then you can delete her e-mail account from help.yahoo.com

if e-mail account is deleted...all will be gone

but she will be opening again...and that time when she finds out you deleted it...you may be in trouble...don't know what kind of trouble

you can also tell her the consequences of hooking up in internet all the time...she may be considerable about it..

i think this is the best way....you go and tell her to understand

Is it true that the u.s. government now has full control of the internet?

sort of . in 2007 bush signed the Homegrown Radicalization and Terrorist Act . in section 1955d it calls for the oddly named Center for Excellence to record and save EVERY fax , twitter , text message , im , yahoo Q and As , facebook entry , etc to be used against you at a later date . obey .Is it true that the u.s. government now has full control of the internet?
No. They have about 30,000 spooks in Virginia trying to monitor everything, but they don't 'control' it. By design that would be very difficult if not impossible to do.Is it true that the u.s. government now has full control of the internet?
No. Given how many servers connected to the internet reside in foreign countries, it would be logistically impossible.
No, it is not, but the FCC wants to control it.
No. It's not. And if you believe that....oh, why bother...

    A memory ?, a internet ? and a control panel?

Ok my computers memory is low (512mb slow) I need to change it how hard is it in a desktop computer and what kind of memory do I need? Ok internet question do I need a home phone if I want high speed internet through the phone company? Last but not least on my control panel I have 2 and sometimes 3 of the same options how did this happen and how do I get rid of it? Oh and one more question what is the difference from a labtop, notebook, and netbook? If you can't answer all please leave the answer you do know ThanksA memory ?, a internet ? and a control panel?
Ah, for your memory, you would need to look on the front of the case to find your model, e,g, Dell Dimension 4600, HP Pavilion ####, etc. Once you know the model, you can look up your computer's specifications to find what ram you need and how much ram it can take maximum.

It is pretty easy to replace RAM yourself, all you need to do first is ground yourself by wear 100% Cotton materials and Denim, or get a anti-static wriststrap and attach it to the case walls. Then Open the case's right side panel, usually there are instructions online base on the computer model you have.

Now you will see 2 or 4 DIMM's or Modules of RAM in 2 or 4 slots, you will have to push on the plastic levers on the sides of the RAM to pop them out, don't touch the pins. Now the RAM is like a key and you will need to line up the grooves at the bottom of the RAM, and just put pressure on it so the levers will snap shut on the RAM, don't force it if it doesn't go in.

Also most computers after 2006 use DDR2 RAM and most computers that are prebuilt by most manufacturers (HP, Dell, Gateway/eMachines) and sold at a local Best Buy, CompUSA usually use the most basic low performance DDR2 RAM and that is DDR2-553(PC2-4200, PC2-4300) or DDR2-667 (PC2-5300, PC2-5400)

For DSL your need just a Phone Jack, but you would need to contact your local provider, Bell, Verizon, Primus, etc. for the service, the filters and modem. Also there is Cable internet which just uses a regular TV coaxial cable, you would need to contact a provider like Comcast or Rogers, etc.

I don't understand what you mean by recurring options in your control panel, you need a example? If you mean by multiple connections under Network Connections in your Control Panel, the main one would be LAN. But do not touch the other 2 if you don't know what they are for.

Notebooks, are just laptops same meaning different definition/name, nothing different in specifications.

Now a netbook, is basically a small light portable laptop with no CD/DVD-ROM drive, just for surfing and working on documents and answering e-mail, they have no performance or gaming value. Laptops are more suited for watching movies, playing games, and listening to movies, the more expensive you go the better the performance.

If you have anymore questions or comments about my answer, please contact through my profile and I will gladly reply.

    Have a nice day

KenA memory ?, a internet ? and a control panel?
    1. Check in your System Information for the type of RAM your computer uses and how much can be put in: (Start %26gt; All Programs %26gt; Accessories %26gt; System Tools %26gt; System Information) Chances are, if you only have 512MB of RAM you can put in up to 2GB of DDR or DDR2 RAM.

    2. No.

    3. I'm not sure what you mean by this question.

    4. Laptop = Notebook

A netbook is a smaller, less powerful notebook/laptop computer. They're very handy, light, and easy to transport, but they're not as good as laptops if you're looking for a fast and powerful machine.
I can answer your first question.

You'll need to check your motherboard manual to know what type of RAM you want. If you don't have the manual you should be able to find out by going on the motherboard manufacturer's website (You can download entire manuals from them if you want)

ETA: This Youtube video is a good tutorial all about RAM and how to install it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Idy6h0Eq鈥?/a>
A laptop and a notebook are the same thing :) They're the full-size portable computers.

A netbook is a smaller version of a notebook and is built to be even more portable. Sometimes they're also called 'mini notebooks'.

i want to get fire fox. and delete IE. but its not in the control panel.

    how do i delete it?

i have vistaI want to delete internet explorer but its not in the control panel.?
You can get firefox, but you have to keep IE.

mI want to delete internet explorer but its not in the control panel.?
As above replies say: IE is deeply woven throughout the Windows OS, so deleting it would be headaches beyond description: leave it dormant.

A handy arrangement is 'dual browser' session:

You can have as many different browsers open as you want at the same time , without significant slowdowns (if the site is not overly 'robust').

Attacks from the internet, using 'blended' methods are becoming more pronounced %26amp; Windows users are especially vulnerable due to the systems flexibility which permits remote machines to enter %26amp; access other 3rd party applications on your machine and get it to do something it was not intended to do.

This is especially true of using browsers as 'launchpads' for payload delivery. IE, being deeply woven into Windows, is a prime target, and makes using Firefox, with 'noScript' add on even more urgent.

Use Firefox for general %26amp; everyday surfing needs, especially to sites you don't know anything about. Depending on how many plug-in's and add-on's you ';hang'; onto FF, it's faster than IE, %26amp; inherently safer.

    Download site: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

Try viewing a site with FF first, and if it does not allow the interaction you require, switch %26amp; use IE (via ';copy'; the URL from FF %26amp; ';paste'; into IE) but only when it's absolutely necessary; or to use 'Active X' or 'Flash' scripting: Use these at your own peril.

Flip back to FF when finished.

Special note for both browsers: ';Logged In'; sites must be ';logged out'; when finished, to terminate 'session cookies'.

    **************

Note: Current threats include 'Antivirus 2009' or variants.

Because architecture of the Internet (notably 'Flash' scripting), vulnerabilities are readily exploited in Internet Explorer, %26amp; it is now %26gt;%26gt;urgent%26lt;%26lt; that you use Firefox with current 'NoScript' add-on, which will prevent ';opacity-based attacks';.

    NoScript: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox鈥?/a>

This dual set-up will drastically reduce web based threats to your system, with low system overhead.
just download firefox. you cannot delete IE since it is built in but you can still download firefox on to your computer.
you can not just make firefox your default browser

    Internet pop up? ActiveX control?

I changed my security settings and now everytime I go to youtube, the video images won't load and a pop up comes up saying ';Do you want to allow Active X controls and plug ins to run?'; and I click yes so then the images load but now it happens everytime I have to load a page on youtube. How do you change the settings for the internet so that it allows youtube??? Or how do you change the setting back? So it doesn't have to tell me if I want it to load or not, I just want it to load. Any suggestions are welcome.Internet pop up? ActiveX control?
Go to Tools %26gt; Internet Options %26gt; Security %26gt; Internet and adjust. If you are using IE-6, move the slider to Medium. If you are using IE-7, move it to Medium-high.

Do NOT set you security any lower than the above^, doing so will put your computer at a severe security risk for the various malwares.

Good luck.Internet pop up? ActiveX control?
internet options-advanced uncheck the box or enable allow active x controls. some bugs are transfered this way using active x controls. thats the reason the box is there.
most virus are spread through IE. IE is not a safe browser. you should use a more secure browser to protect your PC from virus.

i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can block any any popup and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE browser. as you know, most of virus spread throught internet and webpage.

besides, firefox is much smaller than IE, so it run faster than IE.

download firefox for free, Just have a try:

    http://www.freeandbest.net/firefox/

i also recommand you try the most powerful internet security suite: CA Internet Security Suite. which provides comprehensive protection against viruses, hackers, identity thieves, spyware, spam and other online threats that can jeopardize your privacy, your data, and your PC's performance.

you must have some adware/spyware present on your computer or it may be due to some of the virus reason which could corrupt some of your system files which is needed to start some of the main system based programs such as Internet explorer , Control Panel and so on ! Reinstalling the Operating System could solve your problem or try instaling some antivirus and spyware programs.

    Good Luck !

Since downloading IE7 I've lost my toolbar and can't access my internet options from control panel. Help!

Removed Yahoo toolbar as I'd heard this had some issues with IE7. Didn't help! Tried to remove IE7 - can't do this! Can't even right-click to copy/paste etc whilst on a web page.Since downloading IE7 I've lost my toolbar and can't access my internet options from control panel. Help!
You only need to do a search on here to see how many people are having problems with IE7. The best thing to do is download Mozilla Firefox available from http://click-downloads.com/firefox-2-fre鈥?/a> Its faster, more user friendly, easily customizable to suit your need and no problems.Since downloading IE7 I've lost my toolbar and can't access my internet options from control panel. Help!
Tools, is on the bottom line of the browser, that thing with the cog beside it, left click on that for Internet options.

The new Yahoo toolbar works with it, I had a issue with old one.

As a test I right clicked and copied a frog from google images, and pasted it onto a email without problems.
To access the ';Internet Options';, click on the gear-like icon on the top left corner of IE7.

To enable the ';Menu'; toolbar, right click on the portion next to the tabs. You can then check ';Menu Bar';.
    Try this IE7 tweak.

Even Microsoft executives are saying it's too unstable to use. Go back to IE6.
Remove IE7, its a piece of crap that microsoft tossed out. Go back to IE6 or Mozilla Firefox 2. You will like FireFox 2 alot, I think.

    Result: A more happier you.

I cannot delete the active X control ';pop-up in internet explorer.please tell me how?

Use a pop up blocker to block it.

    http://popup-stoping.com/trojanhorsesrem鈥?/a>

    or

you can block it manually under the steps.

    Step1

Press the Esc key one time. If this does not help, press Ctrl, Alt, and

Delete keys all at the same time. If a programs screen appears, select end task and left click your mouse one time. If another screen appears select end task and left click your mouse one more time. Hopefully your mission is accomplished with this five second procedure.

    Step2

If step one worked for you, you'll probably have to do it again each time you connect to the Internet, but only once per visit, until you go into your computer and delete this file that keeps popping up from your computer.

    Step3

If the above procedure is working for you, great. However, they may return again as invisible pop ups. When you're computer appears to be stalling for longer than normal, try the above procedure again, to see if the same program screen reappears. (Invisible pop ups are done away with in the same manner).

    Step4

If the procedure mentioned above did not help, disconnect from the Internet. Press Start, then control panel, then Internet preferences.

    Delete cookies and search history.

    Step5

If the above attempts were not enough, delete the user name and use

    another one.

    Step6

If the above attempts were not enough yet,

    your computer is infected spyware.

    Scan your Spyware/Adaware

    Step 7

If IE pop up,you can manage your IE by using Cleaner tool.

I want to use Linux as an OpenVpn Server & share internet over it and control user's time and credit.?

    ';I want to use Linux as an OpenVpn Server ';

Been doing this for years and it works great!

There are two ways I would do this..... One I would look at the management console that OpenVPN offers.

You maybe able to control access without having to revoke.

The next thought would be to do like they do at the airport.

Here is what I mean. You have your ';subscriber'; set up with openvpn, then you route them to a second box that logs time and bills for access.

You can create two virtual machines to accomplice this within the same physical box. Iptables then becomes your best friend.

I am sure if you look at www.sourceforge.net, you will find some kind of Network access software like they use at an airport or cafe.

Should the government have ';emergency'; control of the internet?

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/08/鈥?/a>Should the government have ';emergency'; control of the internet?
The internet in a informative way provides a means for the people to have emergency control over the government. It should never be restricted nor compromised.Should the government have ';emergency'; control of the internet?
No give them an inch they will give you 6'....FUTURE AS USUAL HAS NO CLUE WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT....President Truman established the CONELRAD [Control of Electronic Radiation] system in 1951. to provide emergency alert to the public. Under this first national alerting system in the event of a Soviet attack on the United States, all commercial radio stations would cease normal operation, in order to prevent Soviet bombers from homing in on their targets by using specific radio commercial radio stations as navigation beacons. Instead, selected CONELRAD stations would broadcast on either 604kHz or 1240kHz to inform the public about emergency measures. As part of the system it was obligatory for all radios sold after 1953 to have the CONELRAD frequencies 640/1240 kHz marked with small triangles on the dial. The triangles were referred to as CD marks, for Civil Defense. The marks on the radio dial were to make finding the frequencies easy. This requirement was dropped, when the CONELRAD system was replaced by the Emergency Broadcast System in 1963. By the early 1960's the development of Soviet missiles had made the CONELRAD system obsolete.
No, absolutely NOT. I read a 'reminder' e-mail about this bill just a 1/2 hour ago, as I did know of it's proposal some time ago, and then I was stunned that a ';Republican'; Senator, would create such a bill, attempting to give more absolute control of Individual Freedom of we the people to an obvious Socialist hater of citizens rights! But now, as I had re-discovered the bill, I am aware that Olympia Snowe, (R) co-author of it, is a RINO (Republican in name ONLY, and the Liberal State of Maine is FINE with that, for the most part, or just filled with stupid Liberals who can't tell the difference in political party ideologies. The latter is true, for they are not liberals but Socialists, a 200 year old Merriam-Webster dictionary definition says so, as well as their actions.

I believe Obama, and the Socialists in office, yet calling themselves Liberals is to convince the stupid they love Freedom, and America, even while their actions as Representatives show the opposite of Liberty of the American people, by their Socialist policies, each in some way attempting to violate our Constitution by adding powers to the Gov., over those of the People, and HAVE BEEN plotting the over-throw of America, using the fooled, never-thinking 'Liberal' robots they created in the Vietnam era, which has spread wildly to put Freedom, and American citizens power over government status in jeopardy today.

The bill has been re-vised, so says the RINO, and the Lib committee previously examining the treacherous plot to shut down the Internet, from the Private-sector (you, me, and the rest of the citizens of non-gov, or corporative businesses, in short, REGULAR folk) in order to over-throw the country, taking absolute power of America, by insuring the majority are incapable of grouping, and assessing what is occuring, he having proclaimed a false cyber-threat, and I perceive as reasonably likely, considering Obama's/elite Lib gov. actions since BO took office, to ignore the peoples wants, create false conspiracies on Conservative citizens, and talk show radio hosts, and recently to force a potentially deadly swine flu vaccine on even the most succeptible to death by it, our children, since this very vaccine killed 1/2 a million Americans, children included, in 1976, for it was 'accidently' contaminated by it's creators and processors with another powerful flu virus,. BO's administration was caught sending letters back and forth, to the Health protection committee, about the dangers of this vaccine, but never meant to be revealed to the public. Ha ha, but two were discovered, and leaked, so now, more REASON to NOT believe this LIARS words about his UHC program, which he is still shockingly promising to pass when 60% of Americans DON'T want f/ing rationed 2nd class healthcare! Nor the loss of our freedom to choose what medical procedures are right for our own bodies, and lives!

Please vote the RiNO's OUT, like Snowe, for she is no lover of Liberty, but a LIAR for her whole politcal life, by calling herself a Republican, when she almost never has voted with her party! She was the deciding vote in the Senate to keep Bill Clinton in office, against every member of her party in the Senate, after the House had impeached the disrepectful to women, and abuser of power scoundrel that Clinton still is to this day.

I am certain, that if BO were given the power to disrupt, and stop the communication of the common citizen, he would at some point, use that power, inventing a false ';cyber-emergency';, keeping us contained, and silent, having almost no communication abilities (this bill also includes telecommunications, PHONES, not just Internet, and pc) with the outside world, then suddenly, a hard knock at your door, Americorps (Obama's National Civilian Security force, just as powerful, just as strong, and just as well-funded, as our Military %26lt;---quoting him here) is demanding you come with them to an undisclosed location, perhaps a FEMA camp, since you refused his vaccine? Forced quarintine of citizens who refuse the vaccine, is a power over us the Gov has threatened us with already, or jail time, or a fine of a $1000 a day, or all. No one in Gov. or the vaccinators are required to receive the shot, just us guinea pigs for government, the LIBERALS elected, AND the LOSS of the control of our bodies, our freedom to decide what medical proceders we feel we need, and want. That's full absolute DEATH of our personal Freedom. Once we no longer are allowed to choose the health or non-health of OUR own bodies, we are slaves, and even drones to be experiemented on, for we will have no control over our own life or death, we will belong to Government. Like a steppford wife. STUPID, BRAINLESS ';';';';';Liberals!';';';';';'; SOCIALISTS.

I PRAY YOU ';Liberals'; LIVE long enough to HOPE for the very THING you sold for CHAINS, and SLAVERY, like a cheap slutty dress in exchange for a cheap slutty dress stained with PEE; your FREEDOM, and MINE.

If there is ever a reason to HATE, it is to see your countrymen sell your child's inalienable rights to a Master of their choosing who intends to kill them.

A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have.

    -- Thomas Jefferson
Wait, let me rephrase this for the sake of clarity.

    ';Should we give a political figure uncontested control over the single most powerful communication device ever created?';

    I'll go with ';no';.
Sure. After all, it's worked so well for China...

This is just another example of why this man should never have been allowed into the country, much less into politics. 0bama is dangerous.
No way! Allow more freedom for everyone. Allow a more libral socialy society.

    Obama did not sponsore this.
Never. Somehow I think we will be reverting to HAM and CB radios very soon to speak in opposition to our dear leader.
No, never, please make this craziness stop. The president should not be given any more powers than he already has.
    oh, that pesky 1st amendment
    no
You mean exactly like they have with TV and radio for the last 50 years? You mean the ';Emergency Broadcasting System'; which is vital to our country's protection?
Yes, but only emergencies for floods/nuclear/tornados/terrorist or any other cause to the safety of the American people.

Trust me. They have the tracing part enacted already.

Here2Help Has got It give her the Best AnswerHow do one control your mind on the internet. It is a very dangerous place? Involvment via IMS ..?
    .

You have to have a strong mind.

You have to accept that the MAJORITY of people are either kidding with you, playing with your feelings

    BECAUSE YOU LET THEM

or are just plain alone and let it make them mean.

So now they want to hurt you.

Can you find someone genuine on the net?

    Absolutley positively...but they are rare.

Usually a person that seeks ';friendship'; over the net

is a very lonely person, or a person

that is in a situation that they don't have the strength

to move out of, and get with real people

in their own town. They could likely be depressed.

Some people on the net are just there because they have time to kill, and want to do it in a constructive way.

I enjoy Computer and Relationship questions.

I have a bit of experience that is helpful in both.

    But be WARY, because

PREDITORS use the internet to scam weak minded people. If someone wants to meet you really fast

    DON'T !!!!!!!!!!

If someone from LasVegas area wants to meet you

    DON'T EVER...many X-cons live there

and they're looking for a free home with you

    if your that dumb.

The internet is not a place you want to chance meeting someone, unless you are VERY VERY VERY VERY

    careful

AND run a back ground check

AND know how to elvaluate a person's history

value, and stability according to where they've been in their life and their family and friends they have.

Should government play a role in controlling the internet?

Internet is on of the greatest tool mankind have ever invented. With internet now ,communications ,education ..e.t.c have all been made easier for people to acces. However internet also gives us a threat to our kids, where they can easily access to pornography, where child molester can have advantanges. Considering all the benefits and disadvantanges of the internet. Should the our governments play a role in controlling internet or do you think doing so would take our freedom of speech away ?Should government play a role in controlling the internet?
Don't give any more monitoring powers to the Government and

don't undermine the responsibility of parents to monitor the access their children have on the internet.Should government play a role in controlling the internet?
Government should not control the Internet since it is a free highway for knowledge and information. What governments can do is to monitor the web for any unscrupulous websites to protect its citizens.
    NO!

Read this, I recieved it from E-Bay:

    Dear ******,

As you know, I almost never reach out to you personally with a request to get involved in a debate in the U.S. Congress. However, today I feel I must.

Right now, the telephone and cable companies in control of Internet access are trying to use their enormous political muscle to dramatically change the Internet. It might be hard to believe, but lawmakers in Washington are seriously debating whether consumers should be free to use the Internet as they want in the future.

Join me by clicking here -- http://www.ebaymainstreet.com/netneutrality -- to send a message to your representatives in Congress.

The phone and cable companies now control more than 95% of all Internet access. These large corporations are spending millions of dollars to promote legislation that would allow them to divide the Internet into a two-tiered system.

The top tier would be a ';Pay-to-Play'; high-speed toll-road restricted to only the largest companies that can afford to pay high fees for preferential access to the Net.

The bottom tier -- the slow lane -- would be what is left for everyone else. If the fast lane is the information ';super-highway,'; the slow lane will operate more like a dirt road.

Today's Internet is an incredible open marketplace for goods, services, information and ideas. We can't give that up. A two-lane system will restrict innovation because start-ups and small companies -- the companies that can't afford the high fees -- will be unable to succeed, and we'll lose out on the jobs, creativity and inspiration that come with them.

The power belongs with Internet users, not the big phone and cable companies. Let's use that power to send as many messages as possible to our elected officials in Washington. Please join me by clicking here right now to send a message to your representatives in Congress before it is too late. You can make the difference.

Thank you for reading this note. I hope you'll make your voice heard today.

    Sincerely,

    Meg Whitman

    President and CEO

Enjoy your freedom while you still can! :)
I think that having the government control the internet completely, would have more disadvantages than advantages. I do think that because of the nature of some of the site (porn, adult content) and the number of minor children that surf the net, that there should be some kind of law or statute to keep kids from being able to access them.
No. How else would we plot to over throw it?

    .

    .

    .

    jk.
    No.

People should be responsible for their actions. People should be independent.

People should be responsible for what they do to themselves. When they do something to each other, that is where government comes in.

    No.
They are controlling everything already, even the internet in a certain way and they don't care much about pornography.

I think it is and should actually be our own responsibility, we should teach our kids ourselves what is wrong and right.

And not what is making the most money, like the government is doing.
nooooooooooooooo because he can broke the low
in my opinion, the government should do something to the internet Maybe.they can play a role just like the pliceman but less fiercely
NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!鈥?and that is all I have to say about that
they do more than you know already..and dosent the gov have enough control over our lives already? in the laws and taxes we have to pay?

Thats as bad as censorship. If we allow the gov to control the internet it would be like burning books on the whitehouse steps,I want my child to be free to do as much research on anything his heart desires, its my job as a parent to guide him and protect him.

And theres always parental control,,As parents its our job to keep tabs on where our children go and the things they see on the net, Why give that right to the gov?
    This question is complicated.

Using internet, terrorists and finance criminals (also pedophiles) can easily obtain their purposes.

But we know that governments are afraid of internet freedom of speech and governments used often a single criminal event to obtain a general control on internet.
I know that the Internet was once only used by the government and I believe it exist because of the government.

I do believe that at some point parents really should take a more active role in raising their children. For example, monitoring their children's usage on the Internet, blocking websites where predators lurk for younger children.

I don't know what role the government could take with out censorship and breaking the freedom of being an American.

Do I think it is sick that there are child molester on line luring children YES!! But at what point is the government protecting our youth consider breaking the amendment. Honestly it's a very controversial debt. What do you think?
The government should be responsible for prosecuting criminals on the internet (child pornographers, etc.) just as they do in the real world.
yes; The internet is open to abuse by unscrupulous people and it needs to be controlled.

The only people who would fear this are those who have something to hide.
goverments shouldnt play a role in the interent, just look at the chinese version of google, they censor everything that they believe goes against the goverment. However I believe at this moment the USA controls all the web page names, there supposed to hand this power to an independent organisation

Internet explorer has blocked this site from using activex control in an unsafe manner.? Explain?

internet explorer has blocked this site from using activex control in an unsafe manner. as a result, this page may not display correctly.

What odes that meannn?Internet explorer has blocked this site from using activex control in an unsafe manner.? Explain?
IE may have detected an activex component (sort of like a mini program connected to the site) which is trying to perform a suspicious activity like manipulating files other than cookies. As a result, it blocked the control from functioning. If this really was a control the webpage needed to display properly, things might not work right.

Good or Bad Idea? Obama, Jay Rockafeller, and a few others are trying to control the internet. They quietly ..?

... introduced a bill (S. 773, ';The Cybersecurity Act of 2009.';) Which would give the government sweeping powers over the use of the internet in what is loosely termed a ';Cyber Emergency'; Is it a good idea to limit free speech on the internet, since this is the media where free speech now originates from? What do you think?Good or Bad Idea? Obama, Jay Rockafeller, and a few others are trying to control the internet. They quietly ..?
It's Anti-American,Anti -Constitutional and Anti everything obama campaigned on .THE PATRIOT ACT IS A WINK COMPARED TO THISGood or Bad Idea? Obama, Jay Rockafeller, and a few others are trying to control the internet. They quietly ..?
The Internet sure is the one medium that is difficult to control. There are countries in the East which try to shut down facebook and other sites which can easily share information and anti-government ideas.

Our President and world government folks like Jay Rockefeller would love to do the same.

The Daily Kos and the left libernut web sites are some which seem so vile. But, freedom of speech allows them to spew their poison too.
nothing ';quiet'; on it... but it is misleading that it is about free speech issues. The protection needed is against systems that serve the public, and hacking could bring down the net entirely. If you use the internet, ie to access your banking info, I am sure you understand how cyber attacks can harm you.

Although I agree to an extent, with the other poster on the hate speech... I have seen some pretty scary things online in the last year.
Oh yes, Federal cyber cops watching every move one makes and everything they say.

What Will they do about other countries who use the internet.

Well some folks are not happy unless they are trying to stir something up.

Always got to have a crisis.
Steve is a dumbass. The asker clearly referenced the bill. If there is a bill it is not a conspiracy theory.
I think that if Bush ever tried this that it would be front page news and the useless, liberal masses would march on Washington demanding impeachment.
Not nearly as scary as the Oklahoma abortion registry.
I would like to see them delete the stuff spewing hatred over Obama and calling him the Anti Christ. Some control is fine but not all
They want Chavez-like control and are Nazis with the hidden agenda of trying to stifle the 1rst Amendment.
Judging by this political party anything will constitute a cyber er
It's crap, but Mary O. is a commie illegal alien, so I'm not surprised!
No one is limiting free speech on the internet. Re-read the bill.
Why not, companies can already do that and we can`t even vote the CEOs out when they abuse it.

  • Should the U.S. government have control over the Internet?

I am doing a debate topic on the pro side of U.S. government control over Internet. What do you think with your resources about the pro side of this topic. Only TRUE answers!Should the U.S. government have control over the Internet?
    Certainly not.

We are seeing them attempt to get control of the internet. But it is still too big. And government control is not what the neocons want. They want to control it themselves and are using the government, the media, and the internet providers to gain that control. The internet is the last oasis of truth that stands in the way of their controlling absolutely everything we see and hear. Not that everything on the internet is true, but the truth is here and they just cannot stand it.Should the U.S. government have control over the Internet?
Yes they should. The US has set the standards and it is easier and more secure this way. Everyone around the world conforms to one basic set of rules, so we have continuity on the network.
Absolutely not! They already are in your business enough. This is one of the freest mediums in the world. You don't need a bunch of D.C. beltway idiots getting involved in every aspect of your life.
there are no pros. and if anyone that thinks this is a good idea they also need to take into account that the U.S. isn't the only country that uses the internet.
NO NO NO THIS IS A FORM OF ENTAINMENT FOR MILLIONS OF PEOPLE SURE THERE ARE PERVERTS OUT THERE BUT LET THEM DO THERE JOB RIGHT AND CATCH THEM WITHOUT INVADING INNOCENT PEOPLE THE COMPUTER IS NOT THE GOVERNMENTS BUSINESS BUT BIG BROTHER IS HERE AND BUSH MADE SURE OF IT AND HE HAS SCREWED UP THE US ENOUGH
The Internet is world - wide. How do you think the U.S. Government could control it? Maybe Congress could pass a law that lists the sites we can see and the ones we cant? Maybe disconnect all the wires that go overseas? Set up electronic interference with satellite signals? Will other nations tolerate U.S. control?

Do you really want to see our last means of free speech and free communication regulated?

You have picked a loser, my friend. This is one topic that is useless for debate. Why don't you see if you can switch positions.
Absolutely not. America is not the world. Why do Americans think that they know what is best for the rest of the world.
    mercy
No, the government should NOT have control over the internet. I believe in net neutrality. Check out the the website I've listed below for everything you could possibly want to know as to why I feel this way and why everyone else should also.

Also, Google Robert McChesney. He's a leading opponent to government control over the internt.
I think people that send spam or create viruses should be locked up in a cave in Iraq with no computer. Don't put them in jail where they have access to the Internet and more time on their hands to do their evil deeds.

As for screening pornography - can't be done 1st amendment rights remember.

Protecting our children from predators - there are laws in place, they just need to be enforced. Parents need to get off their butts and do some parenting instead of asking the government to do their jobs.
Well I believe they already have full control. The net is world wide but so is the NSA.
before writing this I have gone through those answers.....some guys so stupid and really don't know what they are writing...and I don't know from where they got this....The Internet is not belongs to any body.....its not owned by any individual or any country...

and nobody/..no country can control the entire net work (Internet) of the world.... BUT...the .company/organization who has got permission from their own country to provide the network (Internet) to their people/ inside their own country....have the right to block, or controls it....as well as their own government.
They wish!!!..... The people chatting about who they might vote for. Wouldn't they like to control that!!! Ha, ha, ha. :)
It all about what you call control. Do you want crimes to committed on the net? Or do you want child porno on the net?

When you want some of the things not to happen on the net, then you must give control to someone to control these things.

Yet I do not want the government to read every one of my emails just to be nosy. But computers can do that and point out the things that are a crime.
U.S. government should not have control of the internet. Control means taxes! I pay enough thank you very much.
Yes, I think they should. There needs to be some sort of ability to filter content and protect children from pornography and predators.

I think the FCC should get inolved and make adult sites use .xxx or .adlt. That way ISPs could offer family package type services and you'd pay extra to have the ability to use the adult content sites. Just like people do with cable. I also think they should be limited to what type of advertising they can do on the Internet in general.

There also needs to be controls to help protect our children from sexual predators. Perhaps some sort of identity checking, confirmed emails, waiting sevearl days prior to being able to use a chat engine while your information is verified. If you are legit...you won't care.

Some will say that the bad guys will always find a way around the laws...this is true. But that's not an excuse for just giving up or not standing up for what is right.

I know there are many who want to keep the Internet as it is, but right now kids are in danger of getting too much information and being victims of savvy online perverts. That alone requires that adults give up some of their freedoms in order to protect our children. We should all care about children as they are the future of our country.

One more note...spyware...that should be illegal. Much of this stuff is downloaded, without your permission, onto your property. I think there should be laws about that as well. No one should be allowed to install something on your computer secretly that tracks your internet usage.

What is a good parental control toolbar/software that I can use for Windows Vista HP Internet Explorer 7?

    Use the internet content advisor.

    Click Tools, goto ';Internet Options';

Then click on the ';Content'; tab and ';Enable'; content advisor. Then you set restrictions and content restrictions here. That way you can block un-safe websites for your child.

http://www.zonealarm.com is an internet security suite that does this also. It's a lot more user friendly with the parental controls and can not be disabled without a password. The content advisor also uses a password but will not provide additional security features like spyware and antivirus.

On that note, let your child surf but not on an Administrative user account. Create a limited USER for the kids to use or you will be regretting their use in a month or two when viruses have free reign on your computer because admin accounts have privileges to resources of your PC that control the PC.
