A memory ?, a internet ? and a control panel?

Ok my computers memory is low (512mb slow) I need to change it how hard is it in a desktop computer and what kind of memory do I need? Ok internet question do I need a home phone if I want high speed internet through the phone company? Last but not least on my control panel I have 2 and sometimes 3 of the same options how did this happen and how do I get rid of it? Oh and one more question what is the difference from a labtop, notebook, and netbook? If you can't answer all please leave the answer you do know ThanksA memory ?, a internet ? and a control panel?
Ah, for your memory, you would need to look on the front of the case to find your model, e,g, Dell Dimension 4600, HP Pavilion ####, etc. Once you know the model, you can look up your computer's specifications to find what ram you need and how much ram it can take maximum.

It is pretty easy to replace RAM yourself, all you need to do first is ground yourself by wear 100% Cotton materials and Denim, or get a anti-static wriststrap and attach it to the case walls. Then Open the case's right side panel, usually there are instructions online base on the computer model you have.

Now you will see 2 or 4 DIMM's or Modules of RAM in 2 or 4 slots, you will have to push on the plastic levers on the sides of the RAM to pop them out, don't touch the pins. Now the RAM is like a key and you will need to line up the grooves at the bottom of the RAM, and just put pressure on it so the levers will snap shut on the RAM, don't force it if it doesn't go in.

Also most computers after 2006 use DDR2 RAM and most computers that are prebuilt by most manufacturers (HP, Dell, Gateway/eMachines) and sold at a local Best Buy, CompUSA usually use the most basic low performance DDR2 RAM and that is DDR2-553(PC2-4200, PC2-4300) or DDR2-667 (PC2-5300, PC2-5400)

For DSL your need just a Phone Jack, but you would need to contact your local provider, Bell, Verizon, Primus, etc. for the service, the filters and modem. Also there is Cable internet which just uses a regular TV coaxial cable, you would need to contact a provider like Comcast or Rogers, etc.

I don't understand what you mean by recurring options in your control panel, you need a example? If you mean by multiple connections under Network Connections in your Control Panel, the main one would be LAN. But do not touch the other 2 if you don't know what they are for.

Notebooks, are just laptops same meaning different definition/name, nothing different in specifications.

Now a netbook, is basically a small light portable laptop with no CD/DVD-ROM drive, just for surfing and working on documents and answering e-mail, they have no performance or gaming value. Laptops are more suited for watching movies, playing games, and listening to movies, the more expensive you go the better the performance.

Have a nice day

1. Check in your System Information for the type of RAM your computer uses and how much can be put in: (Start %26gt; All Programs %26gt; Accessories %26gt; System Tools %26gt; System Information) Chances are, if you only have 512MB of RAM you can put in up to 2GB of DDR or DDR2 RAM.

2. No.

3. I'm not sure what you mean by this question.

4. Laptop = Notebook

A netbook is a smaller, less powerful notebook/laptop computer. They're very handy, light, and easy to transport, but they're not as good as laptops if you're looking for a fast and powerful machine.
I can answer your first question.

You'll need to check your motherboard manual to know what type of RAM you want. If you don't have the manual you should be able to find out by going on the motherboard manufacturer's website (You can download entire manuals from them if you want)

ETA: This Youtube video is a good tutorial all about RAM and how to install it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Idy6h0Eq鈥?/a>
A laptop and a notebook are the same thing :) They're the full-size portable computers.

A netbook is a smaller version of a notebook and is built to be even more portable. Sometimes they're also called 'mini notebooks'.
