... introduced a bill (S. 773, ';The Cybersecurity Act of 2009.';) Which would give the government sweeping powers over the use of the internet in what is loosely termed a ';Cyber Emergency'; Is it a good idea to limit free speech on the internet, since this is the media where free speech now originates from? The Internet sure is the one medium that is difficult to control. There are countries in the East which try to shut down facebook and other sites which can easily share information and anti-government ideas.





Our President and world government folks like Jay Rockefeller would love to do the same.





The Daily Kos and the left libernut web sites are some which seem so vile. But, freedom of speech allows them to spew their poison too.
nothing ';quiet'; on it... but it is misleading that it is about free speech issues. The protection needed is against systems that serve the public, and hacking could bring down the net entirely. If you use the internet, ie to access your banking info, I am sure you understand how cyber attacks can harm you.


Although I agree to an extent, with the other poster on the hate speech... I have seen some pretty scary things online in the last year.
Oh yes, Federal cyber cops watching every move one makes and everything they say.





What Will they do about other countries who use the internet.

I think that if Bush ever tried this that it would be front page news and the useless, liberal masses would march on Washington demanding impeachment.

Why not, companies can already do that and we can`t even vote the CEOs out when they abuse it.
