Is there a way to control somebodies computer over the internet?

I need to help my friend fix a problem on their computer but they dont understand what i tell them to do. I live far away so is there a way i could control their computer over the internet or something. Like see the screen or something.Please tell me how.Is there a way to control somebodies computer over the internet?
yes, if they are running xp they need to enable remote assistance and then they have to send you an invitation on msn messenger. I am not sure if the same function is available on vista or not.

Yes, there are a bunch of software to do remote control, Netmeeting, Remote Desktop, VNC, pcAnywhere, logmein, Webex. The last 3 cost money$$

There is Go To Assist...
Look into Remote Desktop. It comes free with computers nowadays. I haven't used it myself, but I know it works well. for PCs, that is. not on Macs.
