Is PRC gvt controlling internet access from China?

I'm curious if everybody in China has free access to internet without any restriction? Is PRC gvt controlling internet access from China?
The Internet is censored in China. For example if using Yahoo! in China, and you type in ';Tienanmen Square'; instead of getting pictures of the man having the standoff with the tank, you can only find other pictures, no sign of Civil disobedience. Both Yahoo! and Google agreed to censor as a condition to service China. Is PRC gvt controlling internet access from China?

they definitly censor what is accessible if it pertains to something that is not what they want the general public to see much of. For example, if a news website was to post alot of bad things happening in China at that moment, and it made china upset, the website wouldn't be able to be accessed for a day or two until it was taken off.

They don't always get to take down everything but they like to keep some control over it.
