We just got a router, and my internet hasn't been working around 11pm nightly. My mom has a laptop in her room and I'm wondering if she can control how it travels. Any information would help greatly. Can someone in my house control the internet connection?
If your mom wants you off the internet at 11pm, it's easy to do that with a router. A lot of routers do have controls that can limit access times from specified IP's and NIC addresses. Most routers can also log and block site access, so any traffic can be monitored and/or blocked.
Remember to be nice and obey your mother ;-)Can someone in my house control the internet connection?
If the router is turned off, your internet wont work. Also, the signal can be slowed down when objects are blocking the router's signal.
yes there's a setting in the router that controls time allowed. if she's regulating your time, then she probably also has some spyware on your PC so she can see what website you go to and maybe even read your chat logs.
Yep, whoever has the router can control it(on/off)
No. The speed cannot be controlled. Only your provider can do that. :)
